Introduction

My name is Euan Kellie and I am the proud author of these pages. Here are a few more details about me.

Website

I started producing the site in the Summer of 1996 following the IRA attack. My interest was such that not only did I want to improve my own knowledge and understanding of events, but also wanted to show other people what exactly was going on in the City.

As you will see from the website coverage section, rebuilding Manchester has grown from June 1996. It has contributed to, and been featured in, a number of journals. Furthermore it gained coverage on Granada TV in December 1999 as part of the "Mending of Manchester programme". In February 2002 photographs were exhibited at the Van Alen Institute in New York.

In June 2009 I was offered a book contract by publishers Breedon Books; the goal being to prepare a text which covers the phenomenal investment and development in Manchester city centre following the bombing in 1996. The support and backing I've had to date has been flattering. The book will be published in April 2010 and, hopefully, will be endorsed by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), British Architects (RIBA) and Town Planners (RTPI).

Career

Away from the website work, I am a Chartered Town Planner (also seeking Chartered Surveyor status next year.) I have ten years experience in both the public and private sector, including five years at Chartered Surveyors Drivers Jonas. Amongst other major projects my work, to date, has included the Beetham Organisation's 48-storey Hilton Hotel development, based at the southern end of Deansgate, Manchester.

I studied at the University of Manchester and graduated as Master of Town Planning in 1999.

In Summer 1998 I worked at Pirates Fun Park in Salisbury Beach, Massachussetts as part of the excellent BUNAC Work America scheme.

Personal

In my own time I am a regular visitor to the gym and also play and watch soccer.

I am also, regrettably, a supporter of Chester City Football Club.
